FESTIVAL: China Independent Film Festival (CIFF) UK, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne – 12-15 May 2014

The Tenth Anniversary of the China Independent Film Festival (CIFF) UK Celebration will take place from 12th- 15th May 2014 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. The four-day event in Newcastle features retrospective screenings of CIFF awarded films, an archival exhibition on the history of the CIFF and a workshop – Film Festival in Focus. The audience will enjoy a festival-like celebratory atmosphere and have the chance to see the most exciting collection of Chinese independent documentaries, fictions and animations. We are also delighted to welcome the filmmakers Pema Tseden and Feng Yan, who will be travelling to Newcastle to introduce and discuss their films Old Dog and Bing’ Ai (respectively).

Both the archival exhibition and the workshop are open to the public with free admission. The screenings of documentaries and fictions and the screenings of animated films will then go on tour to Nottingham and London respectively. All the screenings will then go on tour to Nottingham from 16-18 May.

The Chinese Visual Festival will screen animated films on 16 May in London.
